Jacopo Nesi

Hi, I’m Jacopo, I’m a geologist and an outdoor lover. My dreams office is the outcrop, directly on the field. My passion for geology start developing during the secondary school and as my university course progresses I pursue my interests on subjects as sedimentology, stratigraphy and structural geology. My PhD project is focused on a regional revision of a continental-transitional succession outcropping between the Central High Atlas and the Kem-Kem region in the southern Morocco. The aim is to provide a solid stratigraphic framework for the transition Lower-Upper Cretaceous, supported by log measurement, facies analysis and paleo-current interpretation, and reconstruct the paleo-environment and the paleo-geography of the area starting from sedimentary structures and depositional processes.

B. Sc. In Geological Sciences, University of Florence in 2021. Thesis: “Geological survey of the SE area of Serravalle Pistoiese”

M. Sc. In Geological Sciences and Technologies (Earth System Evolution curriculum), University of Florence in 2023. Thesis: “Stratigraphic and depositional review of the Mesozoic succession (middle Jurassic - upper Cretaceous) of the Toundoute area, southern Morocco”

Ph.D. Student in Earth Sciences at the University of Florence, 2023-present. Project title: “Stratigraphic and sedimentological analysis of the Cenomanian-Turonian fluvial and coastal succession outcropping between the southern front of the Central High Atlas and the Kem-Kem region (southern Morocco)”
