Matthias Ghiotto
Geologist, mineral collector and passionate about outdoor activities. Since I was a child, I've always been interested in the world around us, a passion passed down by my grandfather. So I decided, after high school, to take the path of geology, first in Ferrara and then in Florence. Volcanoes and igneous rocks are my main passions, but I’m also interested in geochemistry and isotope geochemistry. My Ph.D. project concerns the investigation of the geochemical composition of the Messinian Salt Deposits of Sicily and the associated connate waters to evaluate the abundance of trace elements that may have an economic interest, which comprehend the development of an efficient method for their analysis through ICP-MS.
B.Sc. in Geology at the University of Ferrara in September 2018. Thesis title: "Comparison of high-title limestone kinetics by in situ XRF".
M.Sc. in Geological Sciences and Technologies at the University of Florence in February 2021. Thesis title: “Petrogenesis and geochemical characteristics of the Lar alkaline igneous complex, south-east of Iran”.
Research scholarship "Petrological characterization and reconstruction of the thermobarometric conditions of the Lar alkaline igneous complex (SE Iran)" at the “Filippo Olmi” laboratories of the Department of Eart Sciences in Florence (2021).
Research fellow "Study on geographic traceability of extra virgin olive oil in the Tuscany region" at the “Filippo Olmi” laboratories of the Department of Eart Sciences in Florence (2021).
