Gabriele Niccolini
He graduated in Scienze e Tecnologie Geologiche in 2019 at University of Florence. His master’s degree has been carried out in the Department of Earth Science at University of Florence, under the supervision of Prof. Adele Bertini on palynological analyses in Piedmont Basin before, during and after the Messinian Salinity Crisis.
Gabriele Niccolini has started a PhD program at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Dipartimento di Scienze della Terra e Geoambientali under the supervision of Prof. Giuseppe Mastronuzzi, Prof. Adele Bertini and Prof. Massimo Moretti on the palynological analyses aimed to reconstruct the morphoclimatic system of the Mar Piccolo basin (Taranto, Southern Italy) during the last ca. 12 kyr BP.
His research primarily focuses on palynological approach (pollen, dinocysts, and other non-pollen palynomorphs, palynofacies) for reconstructing environments and climates in Neogene and Quaternary sedimentary successions in both terrestrial and marine basins in the Mediterranean region.
